The Utility of K.LK. Reaction on the Diflerential Diagnosis between the Cancer and Non-malignant Tumor Diseases in the Stomach

Abstract
For the purpose of differentiation between the cancer and non-malignant diseases of the stomach, the well-known K.I.K reaction (that is, the reduction of red blood cell count in experimental animals with the injection of gastric juice that is taken from the patient with stomach cancer) was examined with the following results.
1) Following the injection of gastric juice, taken from 48 cases of stomach cancer, into the rabbits the reductions of red blood cell count was found in 92 percent.
2) Following the injection of gastric juices taken from 40 cases of peptic ulcer, the reduction of red blood cell count was negative in 85 percent.
3) Following the injection. of gastric juices taken from 30 cases of chronic gastritis, the reduction of red blood cell count was negative in 100 percent.
4) Following the injection of gastric juices taken from 10 cases of apparently normal stomachs, the reduction of red blood cell count was negative in 100 percent.
5) Following the injection of gastric juices taken from 19 cases of pyloric stenosis, the reduction of red blood cell count was present in 79 percent. Positive cases were proved to have adenocarcinoma by biopsy.
It seems apparent that the K.I.K. reaction has a high degree of value in the differential diagnosis between cancer and non-malignant diseases of the stomach by these experimental studies.
